A MOTTLED GREENISH-WHITE AND RUSSET JADEITE FEMALE IMMORTAL GROUP
The female immortal is shown holding an openwork, fruiting peach branch in her left hand and in her right hand a pole behind her neck on which is hung a basket of peaches, which is further supported by the female attendant who stands on a rocky outcropping beside her. The semi-translucent, 'water' jadeite is of greenish-white color with areas of russet-brown color that have been used to highlight a dragonfly alighted on the peach branch, a bird-form hair ornament worn by the immortal, a peach, and a flower in the hair of the attendant.
10 in. (25.5 cm.) high, wood stand
Provenance
Lizzadro Collection, Chicago, Illinois, acquired prior to 1960.
