A LARGE CARVED AMBER SNUFF BOTTLE
1780-1880
The flattened, rounded rectangular bottle is carved in low relief on one side with Shoulao riding a deer, and on the reverse with a scholar riding a donkey, both in a setting of trees and rocks, while mask-and-ring handles are carved on the narrow sides. The top of the mouth is carved with a band of narrow leaves repeated on the neck as pendent leaf tips.
2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) high, jadeite stopper
