Herbert Matter was a close friend of Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) and designed this poster for his friend's retrospective exhibition in Basel's Kunsthalle in 1966. Herbert Matter began to photograph Giacometti's work in 1960 for a project which took him several years to complete. The photographs were eventually published in a book posthumously in 1987.
