SIGNED MUBARAK BIN MAHMUD, IRAN, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY
Of typical elongated form, the figural polychrome painted decoration arranged in medallions between dense gilt floral spandrels, the top depicting courtly scenes of music playing, dancing and courtship between Qajar youth, a portrait of a young woman in European attire in the center, the sides showing ladies bathing, one side with ladies playing with a swan in cusped medallions, each end with floral sprays, the base plain with foliate borders

Lot Essay

Mubarak Mirza bin Mahmud Mirza was a grandson of Fath 'Ali Shah. His father was Prince Mahmud. Mubarak was a painter and an illuminator, he died in 1886 AD.
