A LARGE WALRUS-IVORY HILTED WATERED-STEEL DAGGER (KHANJAR)
QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Of typical form with curved double-edged and single-ridged blade with reinforced tip, the hilt inscribed to its ridge and pommel in nasta'liq script, the grip's decoration with possibly Adam and Eve to one side and a kneeling figure on the reverse, each on scrolling foliate grounds and surrounded by cherubs, the tip reworked and ground, the leather sheath with interlocking palmettes and silver mounts, originally fitted with an additionale small blade
