A MASSIVE CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CANTON ENAMEL TRAY
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
Of shallow rectangular form with a foliate rim, brightly decorated to the centre with sprays of various leafy blossoming fruit and flowers, surrounded by a continuous band of stylised lotus borne on curling tendrils and leaves, the border with shaped cartouches enclosing similar lotus and floral rosettes, all reserved on a dense foliage ground, the underside with a blue enamel spray of exotic flowers, and the sides with pale yellow and russet 'cracked-ice' pattern
