Jacques Laurent Cosson, maître in 1765, was established on the rue de Charonne at the sign of the 'Grand Monarque'. In 1786 - 1787, he furnished more than 3000 livres worth of furniture for the comte de Montmorin for his new hôtel on the rue Plumet built by Brogniart. A very close commode, stamped by Cosson, with its encoignures, was formerly in the Espirito Santo Collection, sold in Paris the 14th June 1955, lot 39.
