The group of lovers modelled as a gallant standing and leaning forward to embrace his companion, she seated beside him on rockwork issuing a shell and cornucopia, a basket of fruit at her feet and her companion's shield beside her, on a green and blue washed mound base, minor chipping to edge of base, small chip to edge of shield, some flaking to glaze; the marriage plate decorated in the centre with coats-of-arms for Poortermans and van der Meer within an elaborate foliate cartouche, above and below a banner inscribed Petrus Poortermans Cornelia van der Meer. in den H:Echt ver. eenigt den 17 Meij 1757.
