The 18 carat square case on short rectangular feet with coffered hinged lid with an applied ruby, emerald and cultured pearl inset mask and crown motif and a diamond-set nasta'liq dedication to Empress Soraya, the interior lined with silk and velvet and fitted with a square compact with a similar applied mask and crown motif by a different maker, also with three further boxes for other make-up, with French import control marks

The nasta'liq inscription on this box mentions that it was presented to Queen Soraya on the occasion of the festivities celebrating her marriage by the Bank-e Sepah (now the 'Cooperative Bank-e Sepah'), in 1329 [1951 AD].
