MARKED OOMERSI MAWJI, KUTCH, INDIA, LATE 19TH CENTURY
On plain base, the repoussé sylvan decoration arranged in framed panels, the hinged lid with a pride of lion on a river bank pursuing a man holding a cub and hurryingly boarding a row boat, the borders with scrolling vines inhabited by avian motifs, the sides depicting wild animals, including bears, a boar and a stag attacked by hounds and a scene at a watering hole, each bordered by floral tendrils, very good condition
7 x 4¾ x 2½in. (18 x 12.5 x 6.5cm.)
