MUGHAL INDIA, 18TH CENTURY
The famous mystical poem of Rumi, Persian manuscript on paper, 476ff. plus seven fly-leaves, each folio with a central panel of text with 17ll. of tiny black naskh script arranged in two columns with double black-ruled gold intercolumnar divisions, the main text panel bordered with further text in similar script written diagonally, titles in red naskh script, within double black-ruled gold frame, catchwords, with six gold and polychrome floral illuminated headpieces throughout, with later owners' notes and seal impressions, in red morocco binding covered with cloth, minor repairs otherwise very clean throughout.
