The text is from Qur'an LXI (sura al-saff), v.13 (part). Mir 'Ata Muhammad is recorded as an important Afghan scribe around 1900 (Aziz al-Din Vakili, Hunar-i Khatt dar Afghanistan dar du qarn-i Akhir, Kabul, 1963, pp.40-41).
