One of the poems from Jami's Haft Awrang, Persian manuscript on paper, 168ff. plus nine fly-leaves, each folio with 13ll. of black nasta'liq script arranged in two columns between black and gold double divisions, titles in red, text within red, black and gold rules, the opening bifolium with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece and text in clouds on gold ground, with catchwords, colophon signed and dated, with library seal impression and various later added owner's notes, in Indian 18th or early 19th century stamped morocco binding

Lot Essay

This manuscript bears two seal impressions from the Library of Nawab Sayyid Wilayat 'Ali Khan Bahadur of Patna. The seal is engraved with an elegant inscription in decorative thuluth script. Another seal impression reads Khurshid Nawab.

A note in pencil on one of the fly-leaves reads "Presented to the Keloria Memorial Hall in honour of H.E. Lord Curzon Viceroy & Governor General of India by S. Khurshid Nawab, Patna".
