Manuscript by or after Kiener of his 'Famille des Plicacées de Lamarck et des Trochoïdes de Cuvier', mid- to late-19th century, 92 pages of text in French and Latin, and 41 leaves of drawings, pen-and-ink and watercolour with manuscript captions (occasional minor spotting). 8° (235 x 165mm), green half morocco by Bayntun-Rivière of Bath, the spine gilt in compartments centred with scallop shells, edges gilt (spine evenly faded to brown).

The principal part of this manuscript relates to Buccinum shells, which Kiener considers in volume IX of his encyclopaedic Spécies général et iconographie des coquilles vivantes (Paris: 1834-1880). WorldCat locates works by Kiener with a similar title in two places: University Library J.C. Senckenberg, and Kiel University. Cf. Dance, Shell Collecting, p.178 ('the Spécies général is still a valuable work of reference); Nissen ZBI, 2183.
