Keulemans, 4 coloured lithographic maps, 19 figures in the text. (4 plates loose.) Original publisher's cloth, beveled boards, upper cover and spine ends with thin double-fillet gilt border sandwiching two thicker gilt rules, 'The Loriidae' lettered in gilt upper-case italic to centre of upper cover, spine lettered in gilt, publisher's name to foot of spine: 'R.H. Porter' (rebacked, original spine laid down intact).
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. AN 'EXCELLENT TREATISE, WITH BEAUTIFUL HAND-COLOURED PLATES' (WOOD). Keulemans' masterpiece, 'probably his best work' (Sitwell p.63). 'The Parrots which constitute the family Loriidae are a very attractive group of rather small birds...
