Autograph letter signed ('David Livingstone') to Mrs Robert Ferguson, Clifton, 25 September 1864, declining an invitation, 'my time in England is so short I cannot put off my departure. I remember a Rev Dr Robert Ferguson whose father was very kind to me when I was a student and if the same you are connected with I say a blessing be on you', 2½ pages, 8vo, bifolium; autograph envelope. Provenance: donated by a granddaughter of the recipient to the Church Missionary Society, and sold by them for 5 shillings in November 1932 to D.J.G. Holloway (accompanying letter).
