Lot Essay

Of the 18 examples recorded in the archive of the manufactory, the location of only five is known: the present example; that formerly in the collection of Elizabeth Parke Firestone, sold Christie's, New York, 21-22 March 1991, lot 139 ($35,200); and examples held in museum collections in Germany (the Hetjens-Museum Landeshauptstadt, Düssledorf), France (Sèvres-Cité de la céramique), and Denmark (the David Collection, Copenhagen.
