A GREEK TERRACOTTA APHRODITE AND EROS
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 3RD CENTURY B.C.
With Aphrodite standing on a square plinth decorated with two dolphins and garlands, wearing a typically diaphanous chiton, her right arm raised and pulling her himation upwards, her left hand at her side, clutching her garment, her wavy hair drawn back into a knot at the nape of her neck, with a winged and garlanded Eros at her left shoulder, a two line graffito on the rear; and a Greek terracotta female figure, with chiton and himation wrapped around her, enclosing her arms, her wavy hair drawn back and bound at the nape of her neck and crowned with a rolled fillet with vine leaves, with remains of white, red, pink and blue pigment, circa 3rd Century B.C.
