A pair of Royal Doulton bleu de roi ground and 'jewelled' cups and covers
painted by J.H. Plant, the conical covers with pinecone finials above acanthus leaf suspending swags of tooled and raised gilt roses, the cups with a gilt frieze applied with 'jewelled' lozenges, gilt moulded ring handles to either side above a panel reserved in tooled gilt 'C' and 'S' scrolls of The Grand Canal to one and San Georgio Maggiore in Venice to the other, the bases with gilt tooled lambrequin highlighted with jewelled flowers, titled to the bases, printed marks and retailer's marks, signed -- 7½ins. (19cms.) high, circa 1900 (hairline cracks to both cups)
