A Coalport two-handled oviform vase and cover
with scrolling foliate handles terminating in bearded satyr masks, the body painted with a classical urn issuing fruit and flowers flanked by winged maidens garlanded with laurel leaves issuing scrolling leaves and flowers, the reverse with trophies within a blue-ground oval panel of leaves within similar decoration on a iron-red ground between pale blue-ground sections, the neck moulded with spiralling gadroons above a key pattern and square panels reserved with flowerheads, the lower section moulded with a stiff-leaf bands, on a circular foot and square section stepped base, the domed cover with a leaf-moulded baluster finial issuing foliage, gilt ampersand mark with CSN initials to base and cover -- 21in. (53.3cm.) high, circa 1862 or slightly later (some slight wear and minor firing faults)
