in the Urbino style, painted to the central boss with Neptune standing in a shell chariot drawn by hippocamps within a stiff-leaf band, the well painted with mermen and maids riding, stylised dolphins, hippocamps and mythical beasts within a cell pattern band, the border painted with winged putti and beasts reserved with four oval panels painted en grisaille with classical figures in chariots, blue cockerel mark -- 19½in. (49.5cm.) diam., late 19th century, with an ebonized and gilt wood frame (some minor damages to frame)
