A pair of Sèvres-style gilt-metal mounted vases and covers
oviform, painted with figures of a yound man offering his sweetheart a bird's nest, the other with a young man holding bagpipes, beside a girl holding a bouquet and a basket, wearing 18th century dress, among animals in continuous landscapes, each reverse painted with cattle by streams, on a bleu celeste ground within shaped gilt and 'jewelled' panels above gilt scrolling foliage, the domed covers with gilt metal finials, applied with lion's mask and ring handles, supported by circular feet, the mounts formed as laurel leaves above square shaped footed bases -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high, 19th century (some 'jewels' lacking, slight wear)
