The bearded figure is modelled seated on a deer skin over a lotus stand, and is wearing long robes adorned with elaborate jewellery and headdress. He is holding one hand aloft and the other holds a scull cup.

Lot Essay

Gilt-bronze figures of this deity started to be produced in China in early 15th century, under the reign of the Yongle Emperor (1403-1424), who was a devout buddhist himself.
