A PAIR OF SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURES OF LOKAPALAS
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
Each guardian figure is modelled standing on a recumbent bull, one with the right arm raised and the left hand on the hip, the other in mirror image. Both are dressed in full armour, with splashes of green, amber and straw glazes to the bodies, leaving the heads unglazed with traces of red pigment.
