Lot Essay

Compare the present lot to a similar white jade cup and stand from the Sammy Chow collection, illustrated by Watt in Chinese Jades from Han to Ch'ing, no. 146. See also an imperial white jade cup stand of similar form with a plainer design from the private collection of Gerald Godfrey, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 30 October 1995, lot 909.
