A LARGE RED AND WHITE CARNELIAN AGATE 'TREE TRUNK' VASE
19TH CENTURY
The vase is well carved in high relief utilising the different colours of the stone. Modelled as a hollowed gnarled tree trunk growing beside lingzhi and a leafy peach tree bearing fruit, it is further decorated with five bats and a crane. The stone is of an opaque creamy white tone with bright areas of reddish-orange highlighting the details of the decoration.
