Lot Essay

The inscription on the vase reads 'wen run er zhi, zhen mi yi li, jian ci bing xin, you ran xu shi', which eulogises the beauty and quality of the marble, stating that it can brighten up the surroundings of the individual who has the privilege to treasure it. The first two lines 'wen run er zhi, zhen mi yi li' are extracted from Book of Rites.
