Lot Essay

Rolex Day-Date Reference 18038 in 18K yellow gold is characterized by its fluted bezel. The present watch is special in that it has a rare oxblood lacquered dial with fine sapphire hour markers, which are interspersed by three diamonds, only breaking the pattern to leave room for the day and date. This type of lacquered dial is also known as a Stella dial among collectors. Stella dials are rare and collectible and can come in various colours, such as the present aubergine or oxblood colour or green, turquoise, red and blue.

The watch on offer here is rare and enchanting. It is preserved in beautiful and original overall condition, still retaining its original sticker on the back and with beautifully defined fluting on the bezel as well crisp milling on the back and sharp gold marks.
