The arched case with gadrooned top with foliate angles, leaf-clasped ring handle, pierced brass fretwork to sides, chamfered brass angles to front, the plinth on four bun feet, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and Breguet-style blued-steel hands, subsidiary dial for 'strike/silent' to arch, signed Yonge & Son/ Strand LONDON, the five-pillar movement with gut line fusee and trip-repeat, with pocket watch-style frame and lever escapement to back plate, striking to bell, the shaped plates engraved with foliate border, dial plate numbered 9431
