(80 mm.) high, set in the secret compartment of a George I oval gold and tortoiseshell piqué snuff-box, the cover with scallop-shell pattern formed by alternating bands of raised tortoiseshell decorated with piqué scrolls and gold strips chased with fowl amongst trellis and strapwork, the base adorned in piqué point with the arms and motto of Affleck of Newmarket
