David Loggan seems to have been patronised by other members of the Harrison family. Loggan produced a plumbago of William Harrison, signed and dated 1681, which is possibly a pair to the present portrait. It was also formerly in the J. Thursby-Pelham Collection, London, later Mrs Fitzroy Chapman; Christie's, London, 17 November 1954, lot 49, later Julian Olney, 1975, later Edward Grosvenor Paine; Christie's, London, 20 March 1989, lot 5, later Sotheby's, London, 11 July 1991, lot 17. In the same year, Loggan also produced a plumbago of a Henry Harrison, D. D., also formerly in the J. Thursby-Pelham Collection, later in the Mrs F. H. O. de la Hey Collection, later Major R. M. O. de la Hey Collection; Sotheby's, London, 27 May 1968, later sold Christie's, London, 15 April 1997, lot 3.
