In his Memorandum of Miniatures painted and finished by William Wood, of the Royal Academy 1790-1808, Wood mentions a miniature of 'Mr. Duncan of Edinbro', No. 5906', which he began on 11 March 1802 and delivered on 27 March for 10 gns. Under No. 5972, he records, 'Mr Duncan of Edinbro', son of 5906' He began this miniature on 21 February 1803 and delivered it on 22 March for 10 gns.
