THREE RECTANGULAR PALE CELADON JADE PLAQUES AND A JADE TALLY
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The first is carved in openwork with a stylised archaistic design of dragons flanking a bird. The second is carved with a flower head amongst scrolling leafy foliage. The third is carved with a bird on a rock amongst foliage. The fourth is a tally section incised to one side with a tiger and to the reverse Ji xiang ping an that may be translated as "Auspicious and safe passage". The plaques are pale celadon in tone and the tally is pale and dark grey in tone.
The longest 3.1/8 in. (8 cm.)
