A RECTANGULAR PALE CELADON JADE OPENWORK PLAQUE WITH GILT BRONZE MOUNT
LIAO/JIN DYNASTY (907-1368)
The jade plaque is carved and pierced with a mythical beast, its head turned back over its body, bearing its teeth at a bird in flight by a tree with serrated leaves. The design is executed on a delicate cloud-form lattice ground. The plaque is set within a gilt bronze buckle lined to the interior with an indistinct feather-like ground.
