A PAIR OF KESI 'SILVER PHEASANT' ROUNDELS AND AN EMBROIDERED 'PEACOCK' RANK BADGE, BUZI
LATE 19TH CENTURY
The roundel is made for a civil official of the fifth rank. It is woven with a silver pheasant facing the sun as it alights from a rock amidst foaming waves. The ground is embellished with clouds and bats. It is together with two halves of a kesi 'silver pheasant' roundel. Each with label Christian-Thornette and 82. The badge is made for a civil official of the third rank with a peacock facing the sun on a black ground embellished with clouds, ruyi-heads and swastika.
The roundel 12.3/8 in. (31.5 cm.) wide. The badge 10.5/8 x 11.3/8 in. (27 x 29 cm.)
