A FAMILLE ROSE 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' VASE
GUANGXU IRON-RED SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1875-1908)
The barrel-shaped body is painted with two dragons each holding a flaming pearl and two phoenix between cloud scrolls, the flaring neck is painted with two further phoenix, all on a pink ground reserved with cloud scrolls. The shoulder is decorated with a band of bats and clouds reserved on a turquoise ground. The flaring mouth is incised with dragons and covered in a light turquoise glaze.
