A FAMILLE VERTE AND IRON-RED-DECORATED 'BIRTHDAY' DISH
KANGXI UNDERGLAZE BLUE SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The dish is of shallow form and finely decorated to the centre of the interior with Shoulao and an attendant. Shoulao is depicted holding a long ruyi-sceptre and seated on a green and yellow mat, beside a recumbant spotted deer and bundle of wrapped scrolls. His attendant stands to one side and tends to an incense burner on a rootwood stand. The flat everted rim is decorated in iron-red with a band of open-winged bats.
