A SINO-TIBETAN GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A TARA
18TH CENTURY
The Tara is seated in lalitasana on a double lotus throne, her hands are in ravimudra and she wears flowing garments, a necklace and an elaborate bejewelled headdress. Her hair is in a high chignon. She is cast with downcast eyes and a serene expression. The base is sealed.
6½ in. (16.5 cm.) high

Originaly acquired in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1955, and then by descent.
