A JADE RULER, AN AGATE CARVING AND A WOOD SEAL
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95) AND 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular jade ruler has incised indicators. The stone is of a celadon and russet tone. The agate carving is shaped as two gourds with leaves, the stone is of a caramel tone with white and black inclusions. The wood seal is carved as a pierced rock, reading jun bu zhi xi ke nai he that may be translated as 'It would be to no avail if the gentlemen did not realize', incised Qianlong xuchen dong, corresponding to the year 1748.
