JONES, William (1763-1831). The Description and Use of a New Portable Orrery. London: W. and S. Jones, [1794]. 8°. One folding engraved plate only. (Lacks plate of the Orrery, light soiling and staining, short tears to plate.) 'Fourth' [in fact fifth] edition, improved 'with an account of the new planet, and other recent discoveries by Dr. Herschell.'
The two tracts bound with 5 others in early 19th-century half calf (upper cover detached). Provenance: Samuel Vale, Coventry (inscription on front pastedown). Two inserted envelopes with Vale's address printed on the back show him to have been a builder, plumber and decorator in Coventry towards the end of the 19th-century. The tract that interested him most may have been Elizabeth Hands's The Death of Amnon published in Coventry in 1789.
