A popular Mexican folk song, Tecolote de Guadaña tells the tale of an owl perched in a hayloft, waiting for his love. Originally composed by Alberto Domínguez Borrás (1907-1975) of Chiapas, several variations of the song exist today. In most versions the owl personifies a young man daydreaming.
