Lot Essay

The art-critic J.M. Prange wrote about the present painting in 1953: '(...) Look at this flowering broom, painted in 1900, so at age 27. Why would this be any less than a work by Sisley or Pisarro? (see: Klaas de Poel, Hendrik Jan Wolter: Schilder van licht en kleur, Zwolle, 1992, p.15).
