Alfred Boucher (d. 1934) executed a number of variants of this relief which he exhibited at the Salon of 1898 and the Exposition Universelle of 1900. A similar example is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue Alfred Boucher 1850-1934 'sculpteur - humaniste', Musée Paul Dubois-Alfred Boucher, Nogent-sur-Seine, 2000, cat. no. 52, pg. 56. An example of similar size, but with an architectural background, sold Sotheby's, London, 29 May 2008, lot 88 (£38,900).
