Each finely painted to the center with a floral wreath, raised gilt bellflowers at the well, the reticulated borders punctuated by four cartouches of flowers and fruit

The decoration and form on the present plates is nearly identical to that made for the Prince of Wales in honor of his marriage to Princess Alexandra of Denmark and were described by the Art Journal of 1866 as made of 'the purest porcelain perforated with great skill and care'. Harry C. Lea was active at Copeland in the 1880s to early 1900s and was known for both his rose painting and for being 'a true Victorian gentleman'. See, V.
