The shaped box of square section and carved and gilt to the cover with large ruyi heads at the corners, the shape repeated on the central raised square, the ruyi heads gilt with scrolls, between scattered flowerheads and butterflies, all reserved on a black lacquer ground, the interior fitted with nine shaped trays gilt with floral scrolls
