TWAIN, Mark (Samuel L. Clemens, 1835-1910). Three autograph letters signed ('S.L. Clemens') to W.T. Twain writes to the local bandmaster in Hamilton, Bermuda, only three months before his death: 'You were so kind as to say you would play a selection for me, & this note is to beg you to play the Intermezzo of Cavalleria [Rusticana] Sunday morning if I am not trespassing too much on your kindness'; subsequent letters accompany the gift of a photograph (not present) and acknowledge a photograph of the band, 'the men whose inspiring music has given me such great & frequent pleasure in the past two years'. The visiting card is annotated with names of tunes, 'Intermezzo, Gold & Silver, Rosary, Weymouth Chimes ...'.
