A LARGE RECTANGULAR 'DRAGON' YAOHE INKSTONE
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The inkstone is of rectangular shape, the inkwell deeply carved in openwork with a scaly chi dragon with a bifurcated tail grasping a lingzhi in its mouth, with lingzhi-form clouds and a stalk of millet on its back. The sunken flat base is left plain. The stone is of a deep dark-green colour.
