A JIAN TEA BOWL
SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)
The tea bowl is well potted with deep rounded sides rising from a short foot ring to the finger-grooved rim, covered with a brownish-black glaze streaked with russet markings ending irregularly above the foot to expose the dark brown stoneware body.
4 7/8 in. (12.2 cm.) diam., stand, Japanese double wood boxes
