A VERY LARGE LONGQUAN CELADON INSCRIBED MOULDED 'PEONY' VASE, MEIPING
YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)
Of characteristic meiping form supported on a ribbed foot, the vase is boldly moulded with a wide band of peony scroll above upright petals around the foot and below shaped cartouches around the shoulders, each enclosing an individual character alternating with a peony sprig, collectively reading Jinyu Mantang, 'May your home be filled with gold and jade'. It is covered overall with a thick lustrous glaze of olive-green tone pooling at the recesses.
