A FINELY CARVED SUZHOU GREY JADE PENDANT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The oval pebble is carved in shallow to high relief on one side with a reclining scholar below an overhanging pine tree growing from the cliff side and a crane in flight above; the scene continues to the reverse with a poetic inscription in relief on a cliff face above an incised Zigang two-character mark in seal script. The softly polished stone has an opaque mottled tone with some dark inclusions.
